The Bureau of Immigration (BI) confirmed that Mylah Roque, the wife of former Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, left the country on September 3, 2024. This departure occurred before she was placed under an immigration lookout bulletin order. The confirmation was made on October 14, 2024, by House Quad Committee chairperson, Rep. Robert Ace Barbers.
Barbers revealed that Mylah Roque was already out of the country before her inclusion in the lookout bulletin, which was issued due to ongoing investigations. According to Barbers, Mrs. Roque’s name was flagged as part of the inquiries into financial irregularities involving several individuals, including public officials.
In a separate statement, Mrs. Roque clarified her whereabouts, stating that she is currently in Singapore for medical treatment. She emphasized that her trip was for personal health reasons and not an attempt to evade any legal proceedings or inquiries.
However, Rep. Barbers challenged this claim, expressing doubts about Mrs. Roque’s cooperation with the House Quad Committee (QuadComm). According to Barbers, while Mrs. Roque had provided some documents to the committee, they were incomplete. He pointed out that the only documents they had received were diagnostic results, and the committee was still waiting for more crucial financial records that are part of their ongoing investigation.
In her earlier statement, Mylah Roque asserted that she had complied with the committee’s requests and that there seemed to be confusion about what additional information they were seeking. She stressed that all relevant documents had already been handed over. However, Barbers insisted that the committee was still missing essential pieces of information.
Barbers further urged the Roque couple to face the congressional inquiry. He emphasized the importance of their personal attendance to clarify the issues surrounding the case and to give them the opportunity to defend themselves in the proper forum.
The House Quad Committee continues its investigation into alleged financial anomalies, and the spotlight remains on the involvement of key individuals like Mrs. Roque. Despite her absence from the country, the committee is expected to proceed with the hearings and other legal actions related to the case.
