Motorists using the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) should prepare for heavy traffic on July 27 as Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) celebrates its 110th anniversary. The event, which will be held at Ciudad de Victoria, is expected to attract many participants, significantly affecting the flow of traffic along NLEX.
The NLEX Corporation has issued an advisory to the public, urging motorists to consider alternative routes and plan for possible delays. The advisory emphasizes the anticipated high volume of cars in the area due to the celebration.
“Please expect a high volume of traffic in the area during this date. Motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes and allow more time for travel,” the advisory stated. To mitigate traffic congestion, traffic personnel will be stationed along NLEX-covered areas to provide assistance.
The INC celebration is scheduled at the Philippine Arena Complex in Ciudad de Victoria, Bocaue, Bulacan, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday. The Philippine Arena, a major landmark and one of the largest indoor arenas in the world, is expected to host tens of thousands of INC members and guests for the event.
In addition to the local traffic advisory, the public is reminded that the large-scale event will have a significant impact on the surrounding areas. Residents and regular commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
The INC, a prominent religious organization in the Philippines, marks its founding anniversary with various activities and gatherings. The 110th anniversary is particularly significant, celebrating more than a century of the church’s establishment and growth. The event will likely feature religious services, musical performances, and other commemorative activities, drawing attendees from across the country and even from abroad.
In a related development, proposals to declare the founding anniversary of the INC a holiday were discussed in March by Sen. Robin Padilla. However, the proposal has not yet been enacted into law. Department of Labor and Employment Undersecretary Felipe Ecargo noted that declaring holidays must balance workers’ benefits with maintaining the country’s attractiveness to investors.
As the date approaches, the NLEX Corporation continues to monitor the situation and coordinate with local authorities to manage traffic flow. Motorists are encouraged to stay informed about real-time traffic updates through official channels and be mindful of the expected delays.
For those attending the INC anniversary celebration, early arrival is recommended to avoid the heaviest traffic periods. With careful planning and cooperation, the impact on traffic can be minimized, ensuring a smooth and successful event for all participants.
