In a recent episode of the Ogie Diaz Showbiz Update on YouTube, talk show host Ogie Diaz commented on Herlene Budol’s performance in the Miss Grand International 2023 pageant.
During the episode that aired on Monday, July 17, Ogie, along with his co-hosts Mama Loi and Dyosa Pockoh, discussed the issue that had been circulating among netizens regarding Herlene’s alleged lack of happiness after winning the title.
Curious about Ogie’s take on Herlene’s reaction during her crowning moment, Mama Loi asked for his interpretation.
“Nag-i-expect siya hindi ng tourism kundi siya ‘yong grand winner. ‘Yan ang basa ko sa mukha ah. Basa ko ‘yon ah, kasi ‘yon din naman ang basa ng iba,” Ogie responded.
Ogie Diaz further expressed his perception that Herlene appeared disappointed. He acknowledged her numerous awards but suggested that she may have forgotten to acknowledge her shortcomings and weaknesses during that night, aspects that Herlene herself knew about.
Ogie explained that although Herlene had a strong impact on the audience, it was not the audience’s impact that determined the outcome. The competition had judges who would make the final decision.
Ogie Diaz also seemed unimpressed by Herlene’s playful demeanor during the Q&A portion. He believed that Herlene’s timing for humor was sometimes off and felt that it wasn’t appropriate in that context.
“Ako napapansin ko lang naman na parang ginawaran ka na ng Miss Tourism tapos parang nakabusangot ka pa, hindi mo pa ma-spelling ‘yong mukha mo kung ngingiti ka or enough na ba yon, ito po ba ang deserve ko, parang hindi. Dapat nga matuwa siya mayroon pa siyang nakuha ‘di ba,” Ogie concluded on the topic.
