An Open Letter To Miriam Santiago Goes Viral

A heart-warming open letter to Senator Miriam Santiago goes viral.

A Facebook user named Aki Dela Peña wrote an open letter to the presidential hopeful Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago through Facebook. This was after she lost to her opponents in the presidential elections.

Aki Dela Peña said that few years from now, people will look back and realized that they did not give the position to the lady senator, who is the only hope of the country.

“Ilang taon mula ngayon, babaliktanawan natin ang taong ito. Kung saan ipinagkait natin sa kanya ang pagkakataon mamuno para sa pagbabago. Kung kailan binitawan natin ang kapirasong pag-asa na mababago pa ang bansang ito,” she wrote.

She also apologized to Miriam Santiago since the votes of youth was not enough to elect her as the president, saying that they failed her.

Further, Dela Peña thanked Santiago for her contributions to the country. She thanked her for serving the Filipino people, inspiring the teens, and for not giving up.

Although Santiago lost, she said that she does not regret voting her and it will always be worth it to vote for a person like her who has inspired a lot of people.

In the open letter, she also said that Santiago will always be the president of youth. She added that she may have lost the elections, but she will always remain in the hearts of teens.

“You will always be our ‘ALMOST’. And you will always be my PRESIDENT. Ikaw lang ang presidente ng kabataang pilipino,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, Rodrigo Duterte is now leading presidential race, followed by Mar Roxas. Grace Poe is on the third place, while Binay placed fourth. Miriam Santiago is at the bottom with more than 1 million votes.
