PNP is glad to announce that there are more than 800 drug personalities who surrendered during the re-launch of Oplan Tokhang
Philippine National Police in the leadership of PNP Chief P/Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa re-launched the Oplan Tokhang program of the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte against illegal drugs.
The said campaign of the government restarted last Monday in accordance with the ‘supplemental operational guidelines’ which was released earlier.
The anti-drug operations of the PNP will be conducted only during weekdays or from Monday to Friday, based on the said guidelines.
Authorities are prohibited to conduct Oplan Tokhang operations during the weekends or Saturday and Sunday.
The said guidelines also put a limit to the allowed time that the anti-illegal drugs campaign must be conducted. It should be only from 8am to 5pm.
After the first week of the re-launch, the PNP was glad to announce that there are already more 800 drug users and pushers who surrendered all over the country, based on the report of Pilipino Star Ngayon.
There was no blood shed happened unlike the previous operations before it was temporarily stopped.
It can be recalled that previously, the administration received intense criticisms from human rights advocates for the alleged inhumane way of arresting the drug suspects.
On the other hand, it was said that this week’s operation is far different from the previous ones.
PNP Spokesman Chief Supt. John Bulalacao announced that there is no one who died during the operations they conducted since Monday.
All in all, the PNP conducted 2,000 Oplan Tokhang operations in various parts of the country this week.
The PNP Spokesman also said that a total of 821 persons who are related in illegal drugs surrendered to the authorities.
Most of the prohibited drug users and pushers who succumb to the authorities were from the Region 10 with a total of 400 drug surrenderees and it was followed by Region 9 with a total of 300 drug surrenderees, based on the report.
