Davao-Samal Bridge Estimated Would Cost P1.19 Billion For Construction
P1.19 billion required for Davao-Samal bridge construction, the bridge was designed by Filipino design teams Budji, Royal Architecture, and design.
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) released P1.19 billion or $40 million USD last April 13, 2016, for the construction of Davao-Samal Bridge. But, until now the exact amount needed for the construction was not clear even when will be the start of construction and when it will be completed remains questionable.
In the past, a different feasibility study was conducted for the construction of the bridge including Japan Internation Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Davao Integrated Development Program (DIDP) in 1999 estimated that it would cost P6.48 billion or $135 million USD for the construction.
Also, another feasibility study came out and shows the estimated cost of bridge construction has increased to P10 billion or $208.4 million USD. The length of the bridge was increased from 1, 200 meters to 1, 350 meters, which gives an alternative starting and ending point that increased the costs of construction.
