P10M Worth of Smuggled Sugar Confiscated by BOC in Manila
P10M worth of smuggled sugar was confiscated by Bureau of Customs Intelligence Group (BOC-IG) in Manila. On Monday (August 22, 2016) in an inspection conducted at the Port of Manila (POM) nine container vans of smuggled sugar were seized by authorities.
In the statement of BOC, Lucky Sapphire Trading is yet to be fully paid the consigned confiscated goods. An estimated P10 million worth of white sugars were seized by BOC from a nine, 40 footer container vans the shipments were declared as steel tube scaffolding
The BOC said last August 11, 2016, upon the arrival of the container vans at the POM going to Foodstuff and Beverage section the personnel of the said container vans paid at the entry and file their loads. An alert order was issued by BOC-IG to prompt a prior intelligence report regarding the questionable filing procedure of the sugar.
The container vans were already clear to release when a special stop order was issued by the Office of the Commissioner for the release of shipments. The smuggled refined white sugar are identified came from Malaysia upon the revelation from the inspection conducted by the authorities regarding the shipment.
