On the 28th of December 2023, at four o’clock in the morning, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) issued a comprehensive public weather report regarding the current weather conditions across the country.
According to PAG-ASA, the Northeast Monsoon continues to affect Northern and Central Luzon, specifically in Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon. As a result, cloudy skies with accompanying rains are expected. This may potentially lead to flooding or landslides due to moderate to occasionally heavy rains.
In the regions of Visayas, Mindanao, MIMAROPA, and Bicol, PAG-ASA anticipates partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms influenced by the Easterlies or localized rain. This may also cause flooding or landslides, especially during periods of heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, in Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with occasional light rains are expected. Nevertheless, no significant impact is anticipated in these areas.
In terms of wind and coastal conditions, residents in Luzon and the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao are advised to prepare for moderate to strong winds coming from the East to the Northeast, accompanied by moderate to rough coastal waters (1.2 to 2.8 meters). In other parts of the country, light to moderate winds from the Northeast are expected, along with slight to moderate coastal waters (0.6 to 2.5 meters).
With this information, it is crucial to stay prepared and vigilant about the current weather conditions to ensure safety and mitigate potential damages.
