PAGASA Raises Orange Rainfall Warning Over Multiple Regions

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued an orange rainfall warning for Cavite, Metro Manila, Bataan, Zambales, and parts of Batangas, including Tuy, Nasugbu, Lian, Calatagan, and Balayan, as of 2 PM on Tuesday. This warning indicates that low-lying areas in these regions may be at risk of landslides and flooding due to heavy rainfall.

The orange rainfall warning, part of PAGASA’s Heavy Rainfall Warning No. 15, has been issued due to the enhanced southwest monsoon, locally known as Habagat. This weather system is currently affecting large portions of Luzon, bringing substantial amounts of rain.

In addition to the orange warning, a yellow rainfall warning has been raised over Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Laguna, and the remaining parts of Batangas, including Agoncillo, Alitagtag, Balete, Batangas City, Bauan, Calaca, Tanauan, Cuenca, Ibaan, Laurel, Lemery, Lipa, Lobo, Mabini, Malvar, Mataasnakahoy, Padre Garcia, Rosario, San Jose, San Juan, San Luis, San Nicolas, San Pascual, Santa Teresita, Santo Tomas, Taal, Talisay, Taysan, and Tingloy. The yellow warning level suggests that flooding is possible in flood-prone areas, though it is less severe than the orange warning.

As PAGASA has highlighted, areas under the orange warning level should prepare for potential flooding and landslides. The public, especially those in low-lying and mountainous areas, are urged to take precautionary measures to ensure their safety. The affected local government units and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices are advised to closely monitor the situation and implement necessary preparations and response actions.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rains are expected over Nueva Ecija within the next three hours, while Quezon may experience light to moderate with occasional heavy rains, which are likely to persist within the same timeframe. These areas should also be on alert for any changes in weather conditions.

PAGASA has advised the public and concerned authorities to stay tuned for the next weather update, which will be issued at 5:00 PM today. Regular monitoring of weather conditions and timely responses are crucial to minimize the impact of the heavy rains and potential hazards associated with the enhanced southwest monsoon.

Stay safe and updated by following PAGASA’s advisories and warnings, and ensure that emergency kits and plans are in place, particularly in areas prone to flooding and landslides.
