Philippines Targets Russia As New Export Market For Shipping Bananas
Philippines targets Russia as the new export market for shipping bananas and vegetables, according to Department of Finance on Monday (October 03, 2016).
On Monday, Department of Finance said that the country eyes Russia to be the top destinations for our agriculture products. The Philippines will export its tropical fruits such as bananas and vegetables because our country is rich in natural resources because of the tropical climate.
“We would like our own companies to penetrate further. (We see) Russia as a new market for agricultural products,” Finance Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez IIII told the Senate Finance Committee during a hearing on the proposed 2017 budget quoted by GMA.
The Cabinet officials also noted that the Philippines aims to strengthen its relationship with foreign countries rather than the traditional trading partners of the country. As President Rodrigo Duterte opens the Philippines for business he also wants more foreign participants to invest in the area, according to Dominguez.
