Due To Humanitarian Reasons, Several Political Prisoners Will Be Released From Jail
Several political prisoners will be discharged in prison next week due to the humanitarian reasons, according to NDFP representative.
National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) representative said that almost 50 political prisoners will be released next because of humanitarian reasons, peace, and security between the prisoners and the government.
Political prisoners get imprisoned because of opposing or criticizing government responsibilities. They are called political prisoners because they got imprisoned for their participation in political activities.
“The government is doing their best to discharge at least 50 political prisoners before Christmas” said by NDFP Consultant Wilma Tiamzon quoted by Radyo Inquirer. Wilma is the wife of Benito Tiamzon, the couple had been arrested in 2014 for illegal possession of firearms, murder, and kidnapping. They were released on August 19, 2016.
