Vice President Jejomar Binay urged residents in Muntinlupa City during a rally not to vote for Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte in the May 2016 Presidential Elections.
“Pare-pareho tayong mayroong responsibilidad. Si Duterte hindi dapat maging pangulo!” Binay stated during the rally. His statement was addressed to his local allies in a government housing project in Muntinlupa City.
Based upon the report of ABS-CBN News, the former mayor-turned-vice president and now aiming the highest post in the country blasted Duterte that his presidency would be “worse than martial law”.
“Si Duterte sa kayabangan, pinagmamalaki na ‘Lulutasin ko ang kriminalidad.’ Sa paanong paraan? Papatayin (niya) ang lahat ng mahihirap at kanyang pinagsususpetsahang nagkamali at di sumusunod sa batas,” he said calling his fellow presidential candidate as “mayabang” and “berdugo”.
Binay also cited controversies involving the PDP-Laban standard-bearer including alleged vigilante execution and the so-called disrespectful treatment of women.
The 73-year-old politician might be on the offensive following Duterte’s domination in the latest SWS and Pulse Asia surveys. The Davao City mayor is at the same time emerges as most liked presidential bet on social media.
Aside from Duterte, Binay also went straight to Senator Grace Poe and former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas.
As his final message to the residents of Muntinlupa City, he assured that he will deliver his campaign promises.
“Ako ay magaling na administrator, manager, decisive ako as a leader. I hit the ground running, makikita niyo ang isang pangulong may executive ability,” he said.
“Mangyayari po iyan at makatitiyak kayo pagkatapos ng pamumuno ko ng 6 na taon, sasabihin niyong tunay nga kay Jojo Binay gumanda ang buhay,” Biny further added.
Meanwhile, Duterte has reacted on “berdugo” tag of Binay and called him as “berdugo ng pera ng bayan.” The former City Prosecutor is referring to the corruption allegations against Jejomar Binay.
