In a video posted on his official Facebook page, Rody Duterte said that he is apologizing in general, noting that he only said it out of anger. He also appealed to the public to know the full story behind.
“I am sorry in general. I am sorry to the Filipino people. It is my style. It is my mouth. I said that in the heat of anger, but listen to the story behind it,” he said.
The 71-year-old Mayor emphasized that he is apologizing in general, but he was not saying sorry to a particular individual or group. Duterte apologized only to his fellow Filipinos.
Duterte said that he said those words because he was angry at that time. He also stressed that he used “gutter language” when he narrated the story during a campaign rally at the Amoranto Sports Complex in Quezon City.
He also slammed his rivals Vice President Jejomar Binay and Administration bet Mar Roxas who condemned his statement.
Duterte said that if you don’t like people who talked in that way, you can follow those thieves who do nothing but steal money, he said referring to Binay.
Meanwhile, Duterte is still the leading presidential candidate after he statistically tied with Senator Grace Poe in a latest survey conducted by Social Weather Stations (SWS) and TV 5 Network.
