Davao City Mayor and presidential candidate Rodrigo Duterte on Monday night, April 11, 2016 dared Vice President Jejomar Binay for a one-on-one debate regarding corruption and morality.
According to Inquirer.net, Duterte was prompt to challenge the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) standard-bearer over Binay’s “berdugo” tag against him to which he responded and called the latter as “berdugo ng pera ng bayan”.
“He says I am a butcher, that I will become a butcher. My God, Mr. Vice President, you are the butcher of the people’s money,” he said which drawn massive cheers during his speech at the FTI complex in Taguig City.
However, he has yet to issue a statement with regards to the said debate.
Meanwhile, Binay fires back at Duterte during a rally in Muntinlupa City not to vote for him in the May 2016 Presidential Elections.
“Pare-pareho tayong mayroong responsibilidad. Si Duterte hindi dapat maging pangulo!” Binay stated during the rally. His statement was addressed to his local allies in a government housing project in Muntinlupa City.
The former mayor-turned-vice president and now aiming the highest post in the country blasted Duterte that his presidency would be “worse than martial law”.
“Si Duterte sa kayabangan, pinagmamalaki na ‘Lulutasin ko ang kriminalidad.’ Sa paanong paraan? Papatayin (niya) ang lahat ng mahihirap at kanyang pinagsususpetsahang nagkamali at di sumusunod sa batas,” he said calling his fellow presidential candidate as “mayabang” and “berdugo”.
Binay also cited controversies involving the PDP-Laban standard-bearer including alleged vigilante execution and the so-called disrespectful treatment of women.
The 73-year-old politician might be on the offensive following Duterte’s domination in the latest SWS and Pulse Asia surveys. The Davao City mayor is at the same time emerges as most liked presidential bet on social media.
