Duterte maintains lead in latest presidential survey despite earning criticisms over his controversial remark.

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte maintained his lead in the latest presidential survey conducted by Social Weather Stations (SWS) despite his post-controversial remark.

Just recently, the PDP-Laban standard-bearer drew flak on various social media platforms and was heavily criticized by women’s groups and the church and other presidential contenders over his controversial remark to an incident that happened in 1989 which involved an Australian missionary named Jacqueline Hamill.

But in a latest SWS survey which was conducted last April 18-20, 2016 and was first published by BusinessWorld, Duterte dominated among other presidential contenders with 33 percent despite he drew massive negative criticism over his remark that even caught the attention of international media platforms.

Sen. Grace Poe on the other hand landed on the second spot with 24 percent while Liberal Party standard-bearer Mar Roxas landed on the third place after garnering 19 percent survey rating.

Vice President Jejomar Binay with 14 percent clinched on the fourth spot while Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago is still on the last place upon earning only 2 percent.

In vice presidential race, Camarines Sur Representative Leni Robredo surged 1 percent advantage against Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr., after she gained 26 percent.

Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero on the other hand landed on third spot after earning 18 percent while Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano gained the fourth place after he gained 16 percent score.

Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV and Sen. Gregorio Honasan landed on the fourth and fifth spot respectively after earning 5 and 2 percent.

Meanwhile, Sen. Franklin Drilon continuous to dominate as top senatorial choice as he earned 45 percent followed by Sen. Vicente “Tito” Sotto with 42 percent.

Filipino boxing star Manny Pacquiao gained the third spot after earning 37 percent.
