Rodrigo Duterte speaks up on Leni Robredo’s cabinet position.
Presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte is not a hurry to give vice president-elect Leni Robredo a cabinet position despite his camp earlier expressed his openness to give her a cabinet post.

In an interview with the press and Inquirer, the incoming president said that he needs to pay back first to the people who supported him during the campaign.
“That (giving Robredo a Cabinet job) never entered my mind actually. I am not trying to be smart aleck, but I’m still trying to figure out the selection in my own group and party,” he was quoted saying.
Duterte said that he will not give a cabinet position to someone whom he doesn’t even know. He added that they need to develop good relationship in the meantime.
“It doesn’t mean to say the door is open and there’s already the job waiting. It’s an opportunity or maybe we can talk about just having a good rapport in the meantime because we don’t even know each other yet,” he said.
Meanwhile, Leni Robredo earlier pledged for a 100% support to Duterte’s administration.
If she would be given a cabinet post, Robredo said that she prefers an antipoverty job which is similar to the set up of present administration.
Robredo ran under the Liberal Party whose standar-bearer is former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas, the closest rival of Duterte in the presidential race. She led the vice presidential race with more than 200,000 votes from Senator “Bonbong” Marcos Jr.
