Duterte Has Dollar Account, He Admits
Davao City mayor Rodrigo Duterte recently admitted that he has a dollar account during a campaign sortie in Zamboanga City on May 2.
In a report by GMA News, Duterte said that he will be going to the bank to open the bank account and prove that it doesn’t contain billions as other presidential candidates are claiming.
“Pupunta ako. Bubuksan ko iyan. It’s $5,000. Iyan ang kukunin ko pag pumupunta ako sa trip sa abroad. Ang naiwan, $5,000. Bilyon?!” he said as quoted in the article.
[I will go. I will open it. It’s $5,000. That’s what I’ll be getting if I’ll be going to a tip abroad. The $5,000 is the left (amount). Billion?!]
When the amount will be converted to Philippine Peso, it will result to P235,174.93 ($1=P47.03).
This back account was first revealed to the public by vice-presidential candidate Senator Antonio Trillanes IV. He also accused the mayor about undeclared assets like the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) joint account between him and his daughter, Sara Duterte-Carpio. The account, according to Trillanes contains P211 million in 2014.
Then, the senator added that there is another account in the BPI-EDSA Greenhills branch and Banco de Oro Unibank reaching up to P2.4 billion.
Now, Duterte wanted to file a perjury case to Trillanes if the senator signs an affidavit.
Then, Trillanes signed the affidavit at the BPI Julia Vargas branch meeting the lawyer of Duterte named Atty. Salvador Panelo.
Meanwhile, the camp of the Liberal Party’s Mar Roxas has announced that among the accounts was actually a dollar account.
Is Rody Duterte really telling the truth?
