Rodrigo Duterte’s camp thanked social media supporters who campaigned for the presumptive president.
The camp of presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte expressed their gratitude to their social media supporters. Duterte is still leading with 6 million votes ahead of his closest rival Mar Roxas, who has already conceded the defeat.

According to a report on radio DZMM, Duterte’s spokesman, Peter Laviña thanked millions of Filipinos who campaign for the outgoing Davao City Mayor, saying that it has significantly increased the candidate’s personality.
Laviña said that millions of social media volunteers campaigned for Duterte in social media sites namely Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. He said it helped popularized the tough-talking mayor despite their camp’s limited resources.
“On behalf of Mayor Duterte and the campaign team, we would like to express our thanks to all our online supporters, both here in the Philippines and abroad, who tirelessly worked to raise awareness about his candidacy, platform and programs,” he was quoted saying.
The spokesman also welcomed the support of the largest social media site Facebook. The executives of Facebook earlier expressed their plans to reach out to the incoming administration on how it can use Facebook for the government.
Facebook even tagged Duterte as the “undisputed king of Facebook conversations” during the campaign period. It was said that at least 64 percent of 15..2 Filipinos on Facebook are discussing Duterte.
Duterte’s official Facebook page has already more than 3 million likes. According to Facebook, his page has the biggest growth among other presidential candidates although he only announced his candidacy in December.
