Presumptive President Duterte Vows To Be ‘Prim And Proper’ Upon Presidency
Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte vows to be “prim and proper” upon seating as the 16th President of the Republic of the Philippines.
Duterte has been known to be a tough-talking person and he mostly does this in his speeches and interviews. But, since he is presumably the upcoming President of the Philippines, he promised to control his mouth when he seats in office.
“I need to control my mouth. I cannot be bastos (rude) because I am representing our country,” Duterte said in an interview during Pastor Apollo Quiboloy’s late-night TV program.
“If you are the President of the country, you need to be prim and proper, almost, maging holy na ako (I would become holy),”he added.
Duterte even showed proved this when he spoke to the graduates of the Lyceum of the Philippines when he delivered his speech with almost no foul words.
In an article in Inquirer, it is said that Duterte’s common-law wife Cielito “Honeylet” Avanceña explained that what the people have seen on the mayor was said to be the “most divisive election campaign” in the country.
Avanceña even said that Duterte is ready to be a statesman.
“The character that he projected during the campaign was the character that is very appropriate for the campaign period kasi awayan ‘yan eh (because it’s full of arguments),” she said to the media at the sidelines of the Quiboloy’s TV program.
She even described the 90-day official campaign period to be a battle between lions and tigers.
Avanceña added that Duterte respects the position he’s aiming.
She explained that Duterte would become the President of the Republic of the Philippines. She also trusts him being a lawyer and knows where he’s going into.
Lastly, Avanceña urged everybody to continue praying for him as the “hard work” will start. She said that the real hard work would start the moment Duterte sits on the highest political position in the country.
