Duterte Won’t Reveal BPI Account Transactions
Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s camp won’t reveal Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) transactions after the Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV unveils ‘alleged source’ and then gives the affidavit Duterte demands.
A report on ABS-CBN said that Sen. Trillanes reveals ‘informant’ on the Davao mayor’s hidden wealth. But, the camp of Duterte then said that the informant Trillanes revealed was “non-existent” and the information was double hearsay.
Sen. Trillanes and Atty. Salvador Panelo, Duterte’s lawyer showed at BPI Julia Vargas Branch in Pasig City to resolve the issues pertaining the ‘alleged’ hidden wealth of Duterte.
Trillanes then named the informant to be a certain, “Joseph de Mesa,” a said the former supporter of the mayor.
In the affidavit which was the response of Trillanes for Duterte’s challenge to sign one revealing the source, it states that the certain De Mesa and Trillanes met at the Magdalo office last April 21, at about 8 p.m.
It says that De Mesa allegedly gave the senator the copies of the bank documents showing the bank accounts of Duterte ad daughter, Sara.
“I asked the help of accountants and finance specialists to tally and figure out just how much money was actually deposited and/or transferred into the subject bank accounts,” the affidavit reads.
“Their final tally shows that a total of P2,407,272,103.75 flowed into the subject bank accounts from 2006 to 2015.”
According to Trillanes, he did not get the information from BPI, the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC), or that his informant is a computer hacker.
By giving the affidavit demanded by the mayor, Trillanes accused the mayor’s camp of not keeping their word to open the account of the Duterte after submitting the affidavit.
Trillanes also said that Duterte must be true to his words and fulfill his commitment. The senator said the mayor is coming up with alibis.
Meanwhile, Atty. Panelo said that the Julia Vargas branch of BPI already confirmed that Duterte didn’t have the said P211 million on his account by Trillanes.
This P211 million, according to Trillanes, was not declared on the statement of accounts, liabilities, and net worth on 2014.
What can you say of Trillanes’ statement?
How about Duterte’s camp’s action?
Why does Duterte have an account in the said bank? What’s the purpose of the account? Regardless of the amount, why was it not in his SALN? Last, why not just show the full details of the account including transaction history, why do we need wait for 7 days? Why?
