Jim Paredes used the statement of Susan Roces to express his thoughts about newly-elected House Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
Singer Jim Paredes and a known critic of the present administration took to Twitter his thoughts regarding newly-elected Speaker of the House Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
On July 23, prior of President Rodrigo Duterte’s third State of the Nation Address (SONA), a coup happened in the House of Representatives and former President Arroyo took oath as the new House Speaker.
Though it was Representative Panteleon Alvarez who was at the seat of House Speaker during the speech of Pres. Duterte, it is still a fact that Arroyo was backed by 184 lawmakers.
Based on the article published in Inquirer, this led to Arroyo’s oath-taking.
With that, Jim Paredes reacted on what happened through his recent Twitter post.
The singer cited a famous statement from veteran actress Susan Roces, the wife of the late Fernando Poe Jr., who was the opponent of Arroyo during the 2004 presidential elections.
Reportedly, the camp of Poe claimed that the election result was fraud as Arroyo won the presidency.
Susan said “The gravest thing that you (Mrs. Arroyo) have done is that you have stolen the presidency, not once, but twice.”
This was the strong remark from the wife of FPJ, based on the article published in Pilipino Star Ngayon.
It can be recalled that Arroyo assumed the presidency from Joseph Estrada when he was ousted.
The recent election of CGMA as the new House Speaker garnered various reactions from various people in the society.
The former ‘Apo Hiking Society’ singer was one who raged against what happened.
Jim used that said statement from the veteran actress on his post.
“If Susan Roces were to report what happened yesterday, she would probably say that GMA was sworn in NOT ONCE BUT TWICE!” the singer said.
For ppl with long memories.
If Susan Roces were to report what happened yesterday, she would probably say that GMA was sworn in NOT ONCE BUT TWICE!
