Joey Salceda Drops Liberal Part’s Mar Roxas, Supports Poe-Escudero
Albay governor Joey Salceda released a statement saying that he is supporting the tandem of the Sen. Grace Poe, running for President, and Sen. Francis Escudero, running for Vice President.
In an article by GMA News Online, it said that Gov. Salceda is withdrawing his support for the Liberal Party. Salceda was the former provincial chairman of the LP wherein DILG Secretary Mar Roxas is the standard bearer while Rep. Leni Robredo runs for the VP.
Gov. Salceda released a statement on Facebook, April 22, saying:
“I am Governor Salceda and my President is Grace Poe. She shares our values of authentic humanism, shares our goals of countryside development and national competitiveness and certainly her compassion will ensure that the impacts will be shared by all.”
The governor explained that he did this for the good of his fellowmen in Albay and for the future of the country. H also added that it is his duty to join the “government with a heart”.
In an interview with Inquirer, Salceda also confirmed that he will be supporting Chiz Escudero on his run for the Vice President position.
Now, the Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian, who is working as the spokesperson of Grace Poe expressed his thanks to the Albay Governor as he could help Poe in the economic growth of the country is becomes President.
Meanwhile, the Liberal Party is still confident that they will still win in the Bicol Region despite the backing off of Salceda.
