Lani Mercado Assures Former Sen. Bong Revilla’s Voters of Honest Service
LANI MERCADO – Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado broke her silence on the accusations against her husband, former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.
One of the senatorial candidates in the Election 2019 who always makes it to the top 12 of the senatorial race partial results is former Sen. Bong Revilla. Undeniably, his inclusion to the Magic 12 has garnered different reactions from the public.
While there are those who are happy and supportive of the former Senator being in to the Top 12, there are those who are not happy about it. Many cited his alleged involvement to the controversial Pork Barrel Scam.
Former Sen. Bong Revilla received criticisms and accusations from a lot of people. Recently, his wife, Bacoor Mayor Lani Mercado, broke her silence on the negative allegations thrown to her husband.
Speaking to Pep, Lani Mercado admitted that she is hurt over the negative accusations against former Sen. Bong Revilla. According to her, these people may not have a direct relationship with her husband.
“Hindi ko alam kung meron bang ipinakitang mali si Senator Bong sa kanila. Kasi ang alam ko, lahat ng nakakasama ni Bong, wala namang masamang komento sa kanya,” she said.
Based on the report, the Bacoor Mayor also expressed that it is unfair for the people who voted for her husband to be called dumb. According to her, there are farmers and members of the religious sector who voted for him.
“Tao lang sila na may paniniwala na may paninindigan,” she expressed.
According to the report, Lani Mercado expressed that rebuilding his name again and showing the people that the accusations against him are not true is an extra effort from former Sen. Bong Revilla. She tagged it as his “second chance in life”.
The Bacoor City Mayor encourages the people to give her husband a chance. According to her, he really came from rock bottom as he served in the local government before he became a senator.
“Marami naman sigurong natulungan si Senator Bong. Huwag lang siguro masyadong dina-down ang isang tao… Let’s give him a chance,” she said.
Currently, the Revilla family still awaits for the final proclamation of the senatorial winners. The family’s matriarch said that they continue to pray and monitor the results.
