Mar Roxas In “Sa Gitna Ng Unos” Comics
Mar Roxas was recently criticized, following the release of a comic book entitled “Sa Gitna Ng Unos.” The comics shows Liberal Party presidential bet as the hero of Tacloban during the Yolanda aftermath in November 2013.
The comic book “Sa Gitna Ng Unos” convey the former DILG secretary as a public servant who overcome dangers to help the victims of the Supertyphoon Yolanda.
The hero, who was portrayed by Mar Roxas, was described as a selfless official who values his country more than his political ambitions. His wife veteran journalist Korina Sanchez was also featured in the book.
It has been lambasted by the rivals of the 58-year-old candidate including the netizens and Catholic leaders. The cover also went viral on various social media sites.
The camp of Mar Roxas said that the comics was made to counter the issues thrown against Mar Roxas that he did not do enough to give an immediate assistance to the Yolanda survivors.
Reacting about the issue, Mar Roxas said in an article published by Inquirer that he did not remember approving the book although it was accurate. He also noted that it was his supporters who made and published the comics.
Mar Roxas also thanked the people who appreciate it. He added that the people who lambasted it might be the supporters of his rivals on the presidential race.
“To those who appreciated it, thank you. To those reacting negatively, they are probably supporting our rivals, and perhaps they are reacting negatively because they see how effective it is,” he was quoted saying.
