With more than one month before the election, the incumbent president Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino III reminded the voters to choose the president who will fulfill his promises. Ninoy Aquino said this during his speech at Sta. Rosa, Manila.
President took also a swipe at Davao City Mayor and presidential candidate Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte, who offered to resign from the position if he cannot eliminate crime and corruption for six months after he wins.
“A leader who fails to fulfill his promise cannot pass on his job to the vice president and say ‘Bahala na si Batman (Leave it to Batman, is colloquial term that means leave it to God)”, he said according to Philstar.
Although he did not mention name, he was obviously pertaining to the PDP-Laban bet Rody Duterte.
President Ninoy Aquino added that he is the chief executive of his city and he must accept that there will be times that you are going to succeed in the decision you made and there are also times that you will fail.
“You are the chief executive of your city. You know that everyday there are challenges and that there are times that you succeed and times that you don’t,” he added.
Meanwhile, the president is endorsing the former DILG secretary Mar Roxas under the Liberal Party. Other candidates who are running for the presidential race are Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago, Vice President Jejomar Binay and Senator Gace Poe.
This year’s presidential and vice presidential elections is scheduled on Monday May 9, 2016 on selected public schools.
