On Friday, the NPC and Partido Demokratiko Pilipono- Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) signed an “agreement of support” to formalized its alliance. It took place at the Makati Diamond Residences.

According to GMA News, the signing was attended by PDP-Laban’s Senator Koko Pimentel and Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez, and NPC’s sabela Rep. Giorgidi Aggabao and newly-proclaimed senator Sherwin Gatchalian.

The parties vowed to support the presumptive president in his aim to bring peace, progress, and prosperity to the country.

“We pledge to defend his mandate by providing constructive advice up to the last day of his term because we believe that major changes can only take root if the nation’s energies and attention are not dissipated and divided by petty politicking,” NPC and PDP-Laban said.

The Nacionalista Part chaired by former senator Manny Villar and Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) inked also a coalition with PDP-Laban to support the administration of Duterte. Lakas-CMD is led by Senator Bongbong Revilla.

The PDP-Laban is also set to form a union with National Unity Pary (NUP), whose members are former allies of former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Duterte will take the oath on June 30 during a simple inauguration. He will be proclaimed as the 16 president of the Philippines, succeeding the outgoing president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
