Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez Thanks Mayor Sara Duterte
PANTALEON ALVAREZ – Davao del Norte Representative Pantaleon Alvarez seemingly refers to Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte in his statement of peace and reconciliation.
One of the political feud in 20198 that is no secret to the public is between former House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez and presidential daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
The presidential daughter previously lashed out at the then House Speaker for allegedly tagging her as a member of the opposition. She previously stressed that her father, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, will be a stronger President without Alvarez.
Alvarez was replaced by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as the House Speaker. In the Election 2019, he ran for re-election as the representative of Davao del Norte’s 1st district.
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte also sought for re-election. Her vice mayor is her younger brother, Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, while their brother Paolo Duterte ran as congressman of the 1st District of Davao. The Duterte siblings are all triumphant.
Based on a report on PhilStar, following their victories in Election 2019, Davao del Norte 1st District Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez spoke about offering reconciliation. Is her referring to Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte?
“Now that elections are over, I offer my hand in peace to heal our deep and divisive wounds,” he said without mentioning the presidential daughter or, based on the report, Davao del Norte 2nd District Rep. Antonio Floirendo Jr. which he also had a feud.
Furthermore, the Davao del Norte 1st District Representative quoted a message about unity and bond.
“Borrowing the words of a statesman… ‘A house divided against itself cannot stand… though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. We are not enemies, but friends,” he said.
Based on the report, Alvarez called for unity in the Davao region and in the Philippines in creating true chance and making progress on the lives of the people.
