Paolo Duterte defended his father Rody Duterte over controversial “joke.”
Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte came to defend his father PDP-Laban standard-bearer Rodrigo Duterte on the controversial remark he made about the Australian Missionary who lost her life through a violent incident. It took place in Davao prison in 1989.
According to Inquirer, Paolo Duterte said that it was not a joke, but a narration of event which happened years ago.
“First, it wasn’t a joke. It was a narration of events which transpired 27 years ago but nevertheless if it was a joke, I would still root for him,” he said.
The younger Duterte also believed that one should not be judged by the words he said, but the acts he has done.
“Not only because he is my father but also because I strongly believe that one should not be judged by the words one says but by the acts one has done,” he added.
The presidential candidate has already apologized over the controversial remark. He also explained that he was not joking when he say those words, but he used “gutter language” while narrating it to the people during a campaign rally at the Amoranto Sports Complex in Quezon City.
Duterte vowed also to protect woman and children if he will be elected as president. He also promised a clean government despite of his “dirty mouth.”
Rody Duterte is running with Senator Alan Peter Cayetano. The national and local elections will be held this May 9 on public elementary schools nationwide.
