Robin Padilla threatens to close account in BPA, following Senator Trillanes’ claims.
Action star, Robin Padilla, who has been active in supporting the Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, has threatened to close his account in the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI).
Recently, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV claimed that the presidential frontrunner is hiding P211 million in an account at BPI’s Julia Vargas branch in Pasig City. He also claimed that it was not declared on his Statement of Assets and Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) in 2014.
In an interview with the reporters and ABS-CBN News, the “Pilipinas Got Talent” judge said that there should be a law to be followed, adding that he will withdraw his accounts.
“Meron tayong batas na dapat sinusunod. Dapat si Sen. Trillanes, sinasabi niyang isang senador, hindi niya dapat sinasabi na walang rule of law… Magwiwithdraw muna ako,” he said.
The tough-talking Mayor has admitted the existence of account, but stressed that it contained much less.
Senator Trillanes, however, refused to reveal where he got the information. Last week, BPI has issued a statement, saying that there was no breach in client confidentiality despite Trillanes’ claims.
Duterte has authorized his lawyer Salvador Panelo to open his bank account in Julia Vargas in front of Senator Trillanes on Monday. Padilla will also be present at the branch for the face-off.
On Sunday, journalist Manny Piñol posted on his Facebook account that Duterte has challenged his critics to open his bank accounts covering the last 20 years. He said it during a campaign rally in Sorsogon.
“Gawin na niyang 20 years! Anak ng p***! Basta abrehan nila ‘yung kanila. All transactions in the past,” he said.
