“Bad boy of Philippine cinema” Robin Padilla reacted to the controversial red banners that stated “Welcome to the Philippines, Province of China”.
The said banners caught the attention of many as it was placed at several footbridges in Metro Manila.
On his recent Instagram post, Robin openly said his opinion regarding the controversial red banners.
According to him, that kind of propaganda is stupid and a form of betrayal as he believes that the relationship between Philippines and China are getting better now.
He added that perhaps people would assume that the politicians who are behind this propaganda are those who are friends with America or Europe.
For Robin, this kind of act does not exhibit patriotism.
“Halatang walang alam sa kasaysayan at katotohanan ang nag isip nito ika nga sa salitang inglis ay isa itong Stupid Joke! Nakakatawa pero Nakakabobo! Wala ka man lang natutunan sa Patawang Political Statement na ito,” the actor said.
He then cited a part of history about the friendship between China and Philippines.
Robin said that even before western countries came to the country, the ancestors of Filipinos already had a connection with Chinese.
The actor stressed out that during the time of Rajahs, Datus at Sultans, there was already an alliance between the two countries.
He said that the proof to this is that 65 percent of the Filipinos now have Chinese ancestry.
On the other hand, Robin said that although Philippines a close relationship with China, it does not mean that the former is a province of the latter.
He also said that the the dispute between the two countries especially regarding the South China Sea/ West Philippine Sea is a result of previous administration’s wrong decision.
“Panahon po ito noong nakaraang administrasyon,” Robin Padilla said.
