Unforgettable DuRiam moments during presidential debates.
Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, dubbed as “DuRiam,” were the most popular presidential candidates on social media sites. Although they are rivals, they remained good friends.
Even on the presidential debates, the two were seen sharing light moments. This has led to the new tandem called “DuRiam.” “Du” from Duterte and “Riam” from Miriam.
The pair started during the first presidential debates which was held at the Capitol University in Cagayan de Oro City in February 22.
Before the debate, the tough-talking politician approached Santiago and gave her a hug. In fact, the two spare each other from criticisms and end up praising each other.
Duterte said in his opening statement that Miriam is “one of the two only qualified to run this country as president.”
When graft and corruption was topic, Santiago said that Duterte is one of the few who fought for it.
“Everybody speaks out but nobody has done very much except Mayor Rody Duterte,” she said. Duterte was surprised and reacted with a smile.

DuRiam has become the topic in social media sites again after the third and presidential debates held at the University of Pampangga on Sunday.
During the face-off round, Duterte has refused to ask Santiago a question, saying that it’s an insult to a learned woman. He also said that she is facing a woman who might become the next president of the country.
“I am facing a woman who would become the President of the Republic of Philippines. It is even an insult to the intellect of everybody to be asking a learned and experienced human being in this planet,” he was quoted saying.
