Pres. Duterte Seen Breaking Historic Traditions of Chief Executives

The incoming President of the Republic of the Philippines, Pres. Duterte is seen breaking historic traditions as Chief Executive of the country. Aside from becoming the first President from the Philippines and other records, he is also set to break some traditions.

Pres. Duterte break the tradition of the venue of choice on his inauguration which will be held at the Malacanang Palace instead of the usual traditions at the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta Park, Manila.

The Mayor from Davao City will be sworn as the 16th President by Supreme Court Associate Justice Bienvenido Reyes instead of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines. He is not the first president to swear in front of the Associate Justice, Pres. Aquino broke the tradition by taking his oath before Supreme Court Associate Justice Conchita Carpio Morales.

President Rody Duterte also refused to be inaugurated alongside his Vice President and despite the explanations from his camp that the main reasons is to save some budget as part of austerity measures, his political opponents keeps on attacking his decision.

For the very first time in the history of the Philipine President’s inauguration, only 500 guests, including foreign diplomats and lawmakers were invited to the event which will be held at the Rizal Hall in Malacanang Palace.

In the history of the Philippines, it is also the first official event of the President that only maruya (fried battered cardava banana) and coconut juice would be served as snacks and no more elaborate and costly dinner for the attendees.

There are some reports that Facebook Philippines will do its best to covered the event through an official live streaming from Malacanang, a very first in any head of state in the world. President Rody Duterte also won the presidency because of his millions of supporters and volunteers on Facebook who actively campaign for him to be the president.
