Duterte Supports Gilas – Gilas Pilipinas has gained so much morale for the Olympic Qualifiers as President Rodrigo Duterte, together with his Cabinet Secretaries gave time to witness the Gilas team compete with France, Tuesday night.

According to a report by Manila Bulletin, the President and this company were from an event in Pampanga and just headed to the Mall of Asia Arena to show support for the Philippine National basketball team facing France.

Duterte, together with some close aides and security men, enjoyed the front row seats to watch the Gilas Pilipinas. The Gilas team had a fought really well but unfortunately, lost to the French basketball team led by NBA Superstar tony Parker.

As the President-elect entered the huge basketball arena, the jam-packed crowd then chanted, “Duterte! Duterte!” The report said that Duterte and his men came from the Philippine Air Force anniversary ceremony in Clark Pampanga.

Duterte came in the arena with a brown polo and jeans. He then made his iconic raising of a clenched fist upon entering the middle of the court resulting to much louder cheers.

The President of the Republic of the Philippines led the ceremonial toss signaling the start of the basketball game.

Duterte was accompanied by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Ronald dela Rosa, Special Assistant Christopher Go, and former Senator Alan Peter Cayetano.

The said Olympic Qualifiers was for the coming Rio 2016 Olympics. The Philippines is aiming to return to the Olympics which was done in 1972.
