President Rodrigo Duterte Releases Official Message For Holy Week

President Rodrigo Duterte expressed his official message for all the Filipino Catholics in line with the observance of the Holy Week.

On March 25, Sunday, President Rodrigo Duterte released his official message intended for the observance of Filipino Catholic devotees of the Holy Week.

He reminded every faithful that the essence of the observance is helping others because according to his statement, through this, the presence of God can be felt.

The official statement of the President that was acquired through Philippine News Agency stated that if Filipinos take this time to rekindle their religious fervor, this should be also a time to help those who are in need as one of the values taught by Catholic values.

“This is a time to revitalize our faith and renew our relationship with God and our fellowmen. As we put our hands together in prayer, may we use this as an opportune time to rekindle our religious fervor and cherish our time-honored traditions as a pious people.”

“As we reflect on the Catholic values and embody selflessness, compassion and love instilled in us through the years, let us remember to always help and uplift the downtrodden because it is only through charitable actions that we can make God’s presence visible among us.”

Moreover, President Rodrigo Duterte encourages Filipino Catholics to take a moment to “pause in the spirit of contemplation.”

Aside from that, the Chief Executive of the Philippines also said that the nation should unite as one people to create a truly equitable and inclusive nation where everyone can enjoy a decent and comfortable life.”

He also wished everyone to have a meaningful and solemn observance of the Holy Week.

Meanwhile, the source said that President Rodrigo Duterte will spend the Holy Week as well as his birthday at his home town, Davao City.

In the previous year, he spent Holy Week visiting three countries in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Qatar, based on the source.
