Recto Disappointed With Lack Of Water And Sanitation In Public Schools
Recto was very disappointed with the lack of water and sanitation facilities in public schools triggered him to call the attention of the authorities to immediately address the problems.
Most of the public schools in the country still lacking water, electricity, and sanitation facilities which is the primary needs of students and school faculty and staffs. Senate Minority Leader Ralph Recto want to address the proper supply of sanitation facilities in public schools by calling the attention of authorities.
Ralph Recto also said that the annual budget of Department of Education must include and prioritize the provision of clean water and reliable power in public schools. “Water pipes and power lines are as important as broadband cables,” said by Recto in a statement quoted by Inquirer.
In the cited date that was presented by Department of Education last March shows that over 3, 628 out of 46, 739 schools in the country were zero-water schools nationwide. The minority leader also said that around 8, 109 schools rely on rainwater catchment enable to have water in the school so they are considered as basically waterless schools.
