In the current period, heavy rainfall is causing widespread flooding in some parts of the town of Arteche, Northern Samar. This Wednesday, November 22, several barangays experienced submersion in water, causing concern and anxiety among the residents.
Since yesterday, continuous rainfall has been recorded in the region, resulting in the overflow of rivers and the submersion of streets and homes. The intense rain has led to the prevalence of severe flooding, seemingly unstoppable by any means. Some areas of Eastern Samar are gradually turning into large bodies of water, where previously dry land disappears beneath the heavy rainfall.
Due to the ongoing situation, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the local government promptly contributed to assisting the affected residents. The DSWD distributed food packs and other necessities for families affected by the calamity. The agency demonstrated its readiness to help and provide immediate solutions to the needs of the people.
The local government also did not lag in supporting and assisting its constituents. Evacuation centers were opened to protect citizens from heavy rainfall and flooding. The local government endeavored to ensure that there were sufficient medical services and equipment in the evacuation centers for the safety of the residents.
Despite the challenges brought about by the recent calamity, the town of Arteche showcased unity and solidarity during these trying times. Various sectors of society collaborated to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone. Cooperation and concern become the foundation for recovery from any adversity.
