Russian Vlogger Vitaly Zdorovetskiy Arrested in BGC for Harassment

Russian vlogger Vitaly Zdorovetskiy was arrested on April 2, 2025, in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig City, for allegedly harassing Filipinos, according to the Bureau of Immigration (BI). BI Intelligence Division Chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. stated that Zdorovetskiy was deemed an “undesirable foreign national” under BI Operations Order No. SBM-2014-048. The arrest followed incidents where Zdorovetskiy reportedly disrespected Filipinos, including harassment of security guards and traffic personnel.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado emphasized that such disruptive behavior is unacceptable and will be met with swift action. He reiterated that while the Philippines welcomes visitors, those who fail to respect its people and laws will face consequences. Zdorovetskiy is now facing deportation proceedings. Even if any criminal complaints are dismissed, he may still be deported if substantial evidence of his undesirability is found. BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval noted that if deported, Zdorovetskiy would bear the expenses and be barred from reentering the country. However, should he face legal charges in the Philippines, he must undergo due process and serve any imposed sentence before deportation can proceed.

Sandoval also revealed that a security guard filed a harassment complaint against Zdorovetskiy with the Philippine National Police. During his arrest, Zdorovetskiy allegedly continued to provoke officials, showing no remorse for his actions. Sandoval mentioned that Zdorovetskiy has exhibited similar behavior in other countries, leading to bans for his provocative stunts. She described his actions as “race-baiting,” involving racist provocation to generate viral content. The management of BGC stated that they are coordinating with authorities and taking necessary legal steps to address the situation, prioritizing the safety and well-being of everyone in the area.

Zdorovetskiy is currently detained at Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig, awaiting the outcome of his deportation proceedings. The BI’s actions underscore the Philippine government’s commitment to upholding public safety and ensuring that foreign nationals adhere to local laws and respect its citizens.
