Senate Panel Orders Subpoena for Primary Suspect in Catherine Camilon Case

The Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs has taken decisive action in the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of beauty queen Catherine Camilon. In a significant development, the committee has ordered the issuance of a subpoena against Police Major Allan de Castro, the main suspect in the case, along with his driver-bodyguard, Jeffrey Magpantay.

Catherine Camilon Case

The decision to subpoena De Castro and Magpantay comes after both individuals failed to appear before the Senate hearing on Tuesday. De Castro cited personal reasons, claiming that he needed to attend to his wife’s eight-month pregnancy. Meanwhile, Magpantay’s absence was attributed to missing vaccine cards and his lawyer’s illness, according to statements made by Sen. Ronald dela Rosa.

However, Sen. dela Rosa dismissed these reasons as insufficient grounds for their absence from the Senate’s investigation into the disappearance of Camilon. It’s worth noting that Camilon was last seen on October 12, 2023, purportedly on her way to meet De Castro. Surveillance footage captured her walking in a mall in Batangas before her disappearance.

Furthermore, there are allegations suggesting that Camilon was seen with injuries and was subsequently placed inside an SUV, which was later found abandoned. De Castro’s involvement in an extramarital affair with Camilon, as uncovered during a probe, led to his dismissal from his post on January 16.

The gravity of the situation is underscored by the fact that De Castro, Magpantay, and two others are facing charges of kidnapping and illegal detention in connection to Camilon’s case. The Senate’s subpoena represents a crucial step in ensuring that all parties involved are held accountable and that justice is served for Camilon and her family.

The disappearance of Catherine Camilon has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting calls for a thorough and transparent investigation. With the issuance of the subpoena, the Senate committee is sending a clear message that no individual, regardless of their position or influence, is above the law.

As the investigation unfolds, all relevant parties must cooperate fully with the authorities to shed light on the circumstances surrounding Camilon’s disappearance. The pursuit of truth and justice must remain paramount as efforts continue to unravel the mystery behind this tragic incident.
