To improve the situation of Filipino families benefiting from the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4Ps, Senator Win Gatchalian announced on Monday that they may now receive electricity bill discounts starting January 2024.
Under Republic Act 11552, also known as the “Act Extending and Enhancing the Implementation of the Lifeline Rate,” an electricity subsidy is allocated for qualified household beneficiaries, a measure championed by Senator Gatchalian.
According to the senator, this program is intended for households unable to pay their electricity bills or those recognized as living below the poverty threshold set by the Philippine Statistics Authority.
Senator Gatchalian encourages 4Ps beneficiaries to register for the government’s lifeline electricity rate program to qualify for the mentioned discount.
This program aims to assist families in need, particularly in terms of electricity expenses. By providing subsidies, the government hopes to alleviate the burden on its beneficiaries and improve their circumstances.
The upliftment of the living standards of these families is a government priority, and providing electricity discounts is one of the steps that can contribute to their daily lives.
Through the collaboration of the government and lawmakers like Senator Gatchalian, it is expected that this program will be effective and significantly aid 4Ps beneficiaries in need of assistance with electricity expenses. With the progress of programs like this, society becomes more just, and more Filipino families have the opportunity to rise above poverty.
