Japan Experienced A Strong 6.2 Magnitude Earthquake
US Geological Survey announced on Friday (October 21, 2016), that a strong 6.2 magnitude earthquake hits western Japan but there’s no risk of a tsunami.
After 2:00 pm on Friday afternoon, Japan experienced a 6.2 magnitude earthquake with a shallow depth of 10 kilometers. 6.6 quake was initially pegged by USGS before downgrading it.
A house collapsed in the town of Yurihama according to the report of NHK public broadcaster. While fire department received 7 emergency calls for injuries in Kurayoshi City and the severe shaking in the area were shown on televisions.
“We felt fairly strong jolts, which I think were the biggest in years, but we have not seen any damage or things falling,” Suminori Sakinada, a local government official, told Agence France-Presse quoted by Rappler.
