SUV Suspect Allegedly Offers Blank Check to Security Guard to Settle Hit and Run Case
The SUV suspect in the hit and run incident in Mandaluyong City allegedly offers a blank check to the family of the security guard to settle the case.
The suspect’s camp purportedly wants to settle the hit-and-run case by paying the victim’s family money. The suspect’s camp appears to be negotiating toward a settlement while police await the court warrant against the SUV driver.
According to an interview conducted by journalist Ben Tulfo in the camp of the victim Christian Floralde, the suspect Jose Antonio San Vicente has already offered to drop the case in exchange for money. Floralde’s family was approached by two lawyers from the San Vicente camp, who allegedly provided them with a blank check.
According to the lawyers, they can write Floralde any amount they want on the check in exchange for their San Vicente settlement. “Isulat/ lagyan niyo kung magkanong halaga ang gusto niyo…” said the San Vicente camp according to the report.
Meanwhile, Floralde stated that he will not accept what was done in his area of San Vicente, even if he is poor. He claims that he will pursue the case against the man who ran him over.
“Hindi ako magpapa-areglo. Itutuloy ko ang kaso laban sa sumagasa sa akin. Nagpalabas ako ng video para pasalamatan ang mga tumulong at nagdasal para sa aking kaligtasan,” said the victim.
“Kahit ako isang kahig, isang tuka lamang, mayroon akong dignidad. Ilalaban ko ang kaso dahil naniniwala ako sa ating hukuman,” he added.
San Vicente was pushed by the PNP to surrender rather than wait for the warrant since he knew he had done something wrong. PNP chief Police Lieutenant General Vicente Danao Jr. questioned the suspect if he is a drug user and why is afraid to surrender.
“Tsina-challenge kita, Mr. San Vicente. Ayaw mo sumurrender, tama? Isa lang sasabihin ko sa’yo: Baka adik ka. Bakit ayaw mo sumurender?” challenge by Danao Jr. to the suspect.
