Taxi driver revealed the reason why he decided to return the US$3,000 left by the OFW passenger in his cab.
Another act of honesty was showed by a taxi driver in Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) as he returned the US$3,000 left by an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in his cab.
Gilbert Punzalan of Golden Star Transport, which is an accredited transport company in NAIA, revealed the story of his good act.
According to the article published in Manila Bulletin, Punzalan saw a white envelope beside the hand break of the taxi he is driving.
At first, he thought that it was just a piece of garbage and when he was about to throw it outside of his taxi window, he noticed that there is something inside it.
He was surprised when he saw that there were 30 pieces of $100 bills in it when he opened the envelope.
The honest taxi driver immediately notified his superiors and went back to the airport hurriedly in case the owner will return to NAIA.
Punzalan said that he returned that big amount of money because he values his work more and he understands that the owner worked hard for it.
The owner of the money, OFW Virgilio Legaspi indeed came back to the airport and was grateful that the honest taxi driver returned his money.
General Manager Ed Monreal of Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) also commended Punzalan of what he did.
