TV5 Unveils RPTV: A New Free-to-Air Channel for Sports, News, and Entertainment

TV5 has recently unveiled its latest addition to its channel lineup with the launch of RPTV. This new free-to-air channel promises to deliver a diverse range of content, including sports, news, and entertainment programs. The channel will be accessible on Channel 9 in analog format, expanding TV5’s reach to a wider audience.

RPTV Launching

One of the highlights of RPTV’s programming is its commitment to being the primary home for Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) enthusiasts. Fans can expect to catch live coverage of PBA games and 3×3 and D-League matches, making RPTV a go-to destination for basketball fans. Additionally, the channel will feature other popular sports shows, such as the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) and games featuring the national basketball team, Gilas Pilipinas.

RPTV isn’t solely focused on sports; it also aims to provide a well-rounded viewing experience for its audience. Viewers can look forward to the inclusion of the beloved noontime TV show “EAT…Bulaga,” a staple in Philippine television known for its entertaining segments and lively performances. The channel will also air the shows of renowned personalities like Ted Failon and DJ Chacha, with their program “News and Public Service,” as well as Senator Raffy Tulfo’s widely followed “Wanted sa Radyo.”

The launch of RPTV comes after Channel 9’s previous role as the home of CNN Philippines, which officially ceased operations on January 31, 2024. With this strategic move, TV5 aims to leverage the vacant channel slot to cater to a broader audience, offering a mix of sports excitement, informative news coverage, and entertaining shows.

CNN Philippines Closure

RPTV’s diverse programming lineup reflects TV5’s commitment to providing a well-rounded entertainment experience for its viewers. By combining sports, news, and entertainment, RPTV aims to become a versatile channel that appeals to a wide range of audiences. As it takes over Channel 9, RPTV is poised to become a significant player in the Philippine broadcasting landscape, offering viewers a fresh and dynamic selection of content to enjoy.
