Twitter Will Shut Down The Legacy Version Of Site Theme On June 1, 2020.
Twitter officially informed its users that the platform will shut down the legacy version of its site theme on June 1, 2020.
This, as Twitter warned its users who currently used the legacy version of its site theme. Twitter advised the public to “switch to a supported browser” or “disable the extension which masks your browser”, adding that only Firefox, Edge, Safari, and Google Chrome were included in Twitter’s list of supported browsers.
Also, Twitter reminded the public to revoke the third-party access for any unnecessary apps as well as disabling any browser add-ons that users may have enabled.
The said announcement came after Twitter quickly discovered that the platform opted to show its older site template by doing this trick — by using a browser extension in order to trick the platform into thinking users were running Internet Explorer 11 browser.
Although majority of its users appreciated the new interface of Twitter, some users still wanted to use the older version for their own convenience.
In a report from BleepingComputer, Twitter added a cookie named rweb_optin to supported browsers when opening a new site theme and configured it with a “side_no_out” data value. BleepingComputer suggested that users will need to delete the said cookie if they wished to use the older version of Twitter.
