The University of the Philippines (UP) continues to lead the list of universities in the country in the 2024 QS Asia University Rankings, with four other universities making their debut.
Sixteen universities nationwide have made it to this ranking, including newcomers such as the University of San Carlos, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Far Eastern University, and Mindanao State University.
UP has risen in this ranking, securing the 78th position among universities in Asia, an improvement from its 87th place in 2023. This is a clear testament to the continuous improvement in the quality of education at UP. Despite some changes in their positions, they continue to maintain their leadership
Ateneo de Manila University is positioned at 137th, with a slight drop of three points from the previous year when they were at 134th.
On the other hand, De La Salle University has climbed from 171st to 154th, while the University of Santo Tomas has dropped from 175th to 179th. This demonstrates that the quality of education at universities can vary from year to year.
In total, Peking University remains the top-ranked university in Asia with a perfect score of 100. It is followed by The University of Hong Kong (97.9), National University of Singapore (97.2), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and Tsinghua University (96.1). This underscores that universities in Asia continue to offer high-quality education.
