September 2 will be a yearly holiday in Ifugao
Malacañang declares September 2 every year as a holiday in the province of Ifugao.
This considered to be a landlocked province of the Philippines which belongs to the Cordillera Administrative Region in Luzon.
The province is the home of the world’s famous Rice Terraces that has become one of the most visited tourist destinations in the country.
Throughout the years, residence of Ifugao were able to hold on to their culture. Some people there still wear their traditional costumes.
Ifugao is indeed a province with rich historical treasures.
With regards to this, the government released a proclamation to salute their bravery during the war with the Japanese.
According to Republic Act No. 11120, the aforementioned date will be a non-working holiday in the said province.
This is line with the commemoration of the surrender of Japanese Imperial Army Gen. Tomoyuki Yamashita in Kiangan, Ifugao.
It was also stated in the proclamation that the Provincial Government, together with the municipal government of Kiangan, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office and Military Shrines Service should hold a “meaningful commemorative” programs and activities every September 2.
