#WalangPasok: Jan. 2, 2019 Declared Special Non-Working Holiday

Malacañang Declared January 2, 2019 As Special Holiday

SPECIAL HOLIDAY – Malacañang Palace declares (WALANG PASOK) January 2, 2019 as special non-working holiday but unlike in the previous year, only January 2 is declared as special non-working holiday and December 26, 2018 was not a special holiday.

The office of the President approved the special holiday under Proclamation No. 555 in the Memorandum Circular No. 54 to give an opportunity to the Filipino people to spend more time with their loved ones.

In addition, most Filipinos are expecting that December 26, 2018 and January 2, 2019 are supposed to be a special non-working holiday so they can enjoy a long vacation before resuming work or classes.

However, those agencies whose function involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations and render necessary services as mentioned in the memorandum.

Here’s the Memorandum Circular No. 54:
