It can be recalled that the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte decided to close the said popular summer destination in Visayas starting on the aforementioned date for its rehabilitation.
Many had expressed unconformity with this decision and one of them is a woman who lives in the island.
Based on the article published on the site of RMN News, a woman loses her mind because of the impending Boracay closure.
It was said that the woman was shouting and running amok. She was identified as Athelma Familara who has not taken any food upon learning that the Boracay Island will be closed.
She was living in her humble abode located at wetland number 9 in Barangay Manoc-manoc. Athelma was living together with her three children.
The impending closure of the most popular island in Visayas affected her very much because just like many individuals in Boracay, she also depends in its tourism business to earn a living.
She is working as a masseur in the island.
The report also pointed out that the woman was worried that she will no longer have any means of earning money for her family.
She was also worried where to get the money for their daily expenses.
Her worries resulted to the point of losing her mind when she already received notice to vacate from Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
They were told to leave their home within 15 days upon receiving the said notice.
Due to her present situation as a result of her anguish on the impending Boracay closure, the family of Athelma decided to confine her to a mental hospital, based on the article.
