Free MRT 3 rides will be available to public and private sector workers as a Labor Day treat.
LABOR DAY- In celebration of the nationwide Labor’s day on May 1, Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT 3) will offer free rides to workers.
As specified in an article written by Manila Bulletin, The Department Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre Bello III requested the bureaucrats of the Department of Transportation – Metro Rail Transit 3 to provide free rides to employed commuters on May 1st.
In a statement released by Bello, she claimed that MRT 3 General Manager Rodolfo Garcia have officially granted DOLE’s appeal.
Based on the advisory, MRT 3 free rides can be accessed on usual daily rush hours of 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and will continue on 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
The labor secretary said that the free rides are available to labor forces of both private and public sectors, as long as company identification cards are presented.
On the said date, magnetic cards will be distributed to the workers which will serve as their admission to enter the service gates where the MRT Management will conduct the customary inspection of baggage.
Bello further instructed the workers who will avail the free ride to drop the issued magnetic ticket at the drop box located at the MRT Service gates as soon as they reach their corresponding destinations.
MRT 3 Stations can be found on the following places: North Avenue, Quezon Avenue, Kamuning, Cubao and Santolan-Annapolis, all in Quezon City; Ortigas Avenue in Pasig City; Shaw Blvd. and Boni Avenue in Mandaluyong City; Guadalupe, Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue (Buendia), Ayala Avenue and Magallanes Avenue in Makati City; and Taft Avenue in Pasay City.
As per the report, aside from the free rides administered by the Department of Labor and Employment, they will also lead the Labor Day for Informal Sector Workers in coordination with the National Anti-Poverty Commission on May 2 to honor the workers’ contribution to the informal economy.
It was further stated that a total of approximately 8,000 job vacancies in different industries will be available for job seekers on Labor Day.
