With more than 1 year and a half and spending as much as $50,000, 42-year-old product and graphic designer Ricky Ma finally fulfilled his dream to come up with a female robot prototype.

From scratch to lifelike structure, he was able to make a resemblance of Avengers star Scarlett Johansson.

Embedded with a microphone, the robot responds to verbal commands which allows it to perform many task such as moving its arms and legs and turning its head and bowing. It is also programmed with different kinds of facial expression.

“When I was a child, I liked robots. Why? Because I liked watching animation. All children loved it. There were Transformers, cartoons about robots fighting each other and games about robots,” he said in a statement via Mirror.co.uk.

“After I grew up, I wanted to make one. But during this process, a lot of people would say things like, ‘Are you stupid? This takes a lot of money. Do you even know how to do it? It’s really hard,” he added.

Ricky Ma named his prototype, Mark 1. 70% of its body is made of 3D-printed skeleton with silicone as its skin.

The designer from Hong Kong, engaged into trial-and-error method just to finish the robot.

“When I started building it, I realized it would involve dynamics, electro mechanics and programming. I have never studied programming, how was I supposed to code?

“Additionally, I needed to build 3D models for all the parts inside the robot. Also, I had to make sure the robot’s external skin and its internal parts could fit together. When you look at everything together, it was really difficult,” he noted.

Ricky Ma is hoping that someone would find interest on his prototype to that he could have finances to build more of its kind.
